In Leander, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

Our experience with LAWNS Tree Farm was exceptional! The owner, Terry, was warm and welcoming and made us feel comfortable on arrival. All of the trees on the farm are beautiful and well maintained. Terry helped us choose the perfect Arizona Cypress ‘Carolina Sapphire’ trees for our property. We never felt rushed , and all of our questions were answered with patience and expertise. The delivery and planting service exceeded our expectations. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and had everything planted quickly while paying attention to detail. When they finished, the area was spotless—there wasn’t a mess left behind. Terry went above and beyond by taking the time to explain how to properly water and care for the trees so they will thrive for years to come. I especially appreciate his insistence to call the farm any time we have questions or a concern about our new trees, and his pride in his work really stood out. The trees are beautiful, healthy, and exactly what we were hoping for. It’s refreshing to work with a business that truly cares about both the quality of their products and the satisfaction of their customers. We highly recommend this tree farm to anyone lo

I purchased two trees (texas redbud and chinquapin oak) from Lawns in October 2023. The initial experience was fabulous. From searching to purchasing to planting, they were super nice and accommodating. However, nearly three years later, I have a bit of regret. When the oak was planted in my yard by Lawns staff/contractors (and perhaps even before that as it was grown in a container), the root collar was covered with about 4 inches of compacted dirt. At the time, I wasn't at all knowledgeable about the risks posed to a young tree when planted too deep in the ground. Unfortunately, with all the rain we got this spring, it has caught a nasty case of fungal canker on the lower trunk and likely won't survive. I consulted an arborist and performed a root crown extraction, but it was too little too late. I'm sure the company cares about the survival of the trees they sell. They even provide some good literature about staking and watering. But I would have hoped that those installing the tree would be knowledgeable enough to spot such an obvious problem. It would have taken just a couple minutes to set the tree up for long term success. Now, three years later, I'm looking at starting th

Terry and Lauren were very easy to work with to find a new tree for our front yard in Hutto. They provided great advice, competitive pricing and the tree was installed within a couple days. Our new Lacey Oak looks great, the install crew did excellent work. Highly recommended.

We had the most wonderful experience at Lawns Tree Farms with our Girl Scout troop! While we didn’t purchase a tree this visit, they welcomed our group so warmly as the girls worked on earning their Eco badge. The team went above and beyond — they gave us a golf cart tour of the farm, taught the girls about tree care, and even helped them plant a tree. The staff was incredibly patient, kind, and engaging with the kids, making learning both fun and memorable. They even created a scavenger hunt and prepared sweet little gift bags for the troop, which the girls absolutely loved. What truly stood out was their generosity and genuine care. This wasn’t just a visit — it was a core memory for our troop. Getting to see the chickens and collect eggs was the cherry on top! Their passion, expertise, and kindness were so apparent in every interaction. When our family is ready to buy trees, we already know exactly where we’ll be going. Highly recommend supporting this amazing local farm!

Lawns tree farm is a hidden gem in Leander; I visited a couple of years ago to purchase a specific tree - the Eastern Red Cedar/Juniper Brodie. The owner Terry was very helpful and spent over an hour talking to me about how to successfully establish trees and care for them in Austin's extreme climate - the crazy summer heat and the winter freezes. After talking with Terry, I purchased 6 Eastern Red Cedars and today, my trees are thriving. I texted him on a few occasions with questions regarding care of the trees and he responded promptly, with detailed instructions. I now have a row of established, healthy trees for privacy along my fence line. If you're looking for a tree farm that has a great selection of healthy trees and a knowledgeable owner who's willing to help you out even months after you've a purchase, stop by Lawns farm first. Bonus - pet-friendly and I was able to bring my Labrador along for the visit! Highly recommend.
